CAIRO, March 18 (MENA) - Minister of Foreign Affairs, Emigration and Egyptian Expatriates Badr Abdelatty on Tuesday affirmed the importance of boosting trade and investment relations between Egypt and the UK.

Abdelatty made the remarks during a meeting with Yasmin Qureshi, the Labour MP for Bolton South and Walkden and UK's Trade Envoy to Egypt.

The foreign minister said that the volume of trade exchange between Egypt and the UK has recorded nearly five billion pound sterling over the past year.

Abdelatty said that he is looking forward to furthering joint action and maximizing leveraging potential of the bilateral economic relation along with attracting more British investments to Egypt.

The top Egyptian diplomat reviewed steps adopted by Egyptian government to improve the business climate and remove all hindrances facing the foreign investors, highlighting top priority given by Egypt to the effective role of the private sector in the economic activities.

He underscored the importance of building on the Egyptian-UK Association Agreement that was signed in December 2020 as well as the outcomes of the Egyptian-UK council that took place in January.

Abdelatty emphasized importance attached by Egypt to promoting cooperation with the British side in the higher education domain. (MENA)
