CAIRO, March 8 (MENA) – Minister of Foreign Affairs and Emigration Badr Abdelatty has discussed with his Iranian counterpart Abbas Araghchi the latest developments in the region.

The ministers had a meeting on Saturday on the sidelines of the extraordinary session of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) at the foreign ministers' level in Jeddah.

Abdelatty asserted the need to defuse tension and deescalate the situation in the region in this critical period.

Abdelatty reviewed the outcomes of the recent Arab summit, which was held in Cairo on March 4, stressing Egypt's welcome of hosting an international conference on the reconstruction of Gaza in cooperation with the Palestinian government and the United Nations to mobilize needed funding to implement the Arab plan.
