CAIRO, Feb 2 (MENA) - Minister of Foreign Affairs, Emigration and Egyptian Expatriates Badr Abdelatty Sunday affirmed Egypt's unwavering support to Sudan's sovereignty, unity and territorial integrity, along with enhancing humanitarian response efforts there.
Abdelatty made the remarks during a meeting with visiting Sudanese Foreign Minister Ali Yousuf al Sharif to discuss bilateral relations and field developments in Sudan.
The Egyptian top diplomat hailed as "distinguished" historic relations and close brotherly ties between Egypt and Sudan, underscoring Egypt's solidarity with the Sudanese people throughout this critical phase, according to Foreign Ministry Spokesman Ambassador Tamim Khalaf.
He emphasized commitment to exerting utmost effort to restore stability and peace in Sudan, within the framework of Egypt's full support to Sudan and its national establishments, the spokesman said.
The meeting between the Egyptian and Sudanese foreign ministers witnessed consultation regarding efforts meant to ensure the resumption of Sudan's activities in the African Union, the spokesmen added.
Egypt's effective involvement in regional and international efforts aimed at supporting Sudan was tackled during the meeting, Khalaf said.
The meeting took up the file of water security, with the two sides underlining the significance of maintaining cooperation and consultation for the benefit of preserving the mutual interests of the Egyptian and Sudanese people, the spokesman went on to say. (MENA)
