CAIRO, Feb 1 (MENA) - Minister of Foreign Affairs, Emigration and Egyptian Expatriates Affairs Badr Abdelatty Saturday affirmed the strength of historic relations between Egypt and South Africa.
Abdelatty made the remarks during a phone call with Minister of International Relations and Cooperation of South Africa Ronald Lamola.
The two sides discussed bilateral ties and means of boosting cooperation in various domains.
Abdelatty reviewed means of boosting economic, trade and investment cooperation between Egypt and South Africa.
He also highlighted the progress achieved in the implementation of the outcomes of the 10th session of the joint committee and the reformation of the joint business council to cope with the ongoing development in trade and investment cooperation frameworks between the two countries.
The top diplomats discussed regional developments of mutual interest, in particular the updates in the Gaza Strip and escalation in eastern DR Congo.
They discussed ways of promoting regional integration and South–South Cooperation, underscoring the importance of maintaining coordination at the international platforms regarding security issues and stability in the continent, in light of challenges facing the African continent.
Abdelatty and Lamola emphasized the importance of exchanging support for candidates of the two countries nominated for international posts, for the benefit of the African continent. (MENA)
