CAIRO, Oct 1 (MENA) – President Abdel Fattah El Sisi received a phone call from Iraqi Prime Minister Mohammed Shia' Al Sudani where they discussed ways of boosting bilateral relations and the current regional situation.

The call tackled the successive developments in the region after the latest Israeli assaults on Lebanon, Presidential Spokesman Ahmed Fahmy said.

President Sisi asserted Egypt’s support to the security and stability of Lebanon, rejecting any violation of its sovereignty and territorial integrity, he added.

He emphasized the necessity of continuing serious international efforts to reach a ceasefire in the Gaza Strip for restoring stability and ending the current tensions so as to eventually bring about sustainable peace and security and realize development in the region, according to the spokesman.

Both sides asserted keenness on strengthening the history-honored, fraternal bonds between Egypt and Iraq, he said. (MENA)
