CAIRO, Sept 17 (MENA) - Minister of Foreign Affairs, Emigration, and Egyptian Expatriates Badr Abdelatty has emphasized the importance of strengthening economic and trade relations with the US, considering them one of the basic axes on which the strategic partnership between both countries is based.

The foreign minister made the remarks during a meeting he held on Tuesday with a delegation from the US Chamber of Commerce.

Abdelatty pointed out to the vital role played by the US Chamber of Commerce, along with business councils, companies and the private sector, in strengthening economic relations between the two countries, especially in the sectors of communications and information technology, health, and renewable energy, Foreign Ministry Spokesman Tamim Khallaf said.

During the meeting, the foreign minister got acquainted with the opinions and proposals of members of the US Chamber of Commerce delegation on ways to revitalize economic cooperation between Egypt and the United States.

He also reviewed the ambitious steps and measures recently taken by the Egyptian state in order to improve the investment climate, remove obstacles that may face investors, and develop the business environment in the country, affirming that attracting foreign investments is a top priority for the Egyptian government.

The foreign minister noted that the launch of the Joint Economic Commission (JEC) between the United States and Egypt in May 2023 is one of the significant developments that contribute to supporting economic cooperation between both countries in institutional terms. (MENA)
