CAIRO, May 15 (MENA) - Minister of Foreign Affairs, Emigration and Egyptian Expatriates Badr Abdelatty reiterated Egypt's total rejection of Israel's policy of starvation and collective punishment in the Gaza Strip, which constitutes a blatant violation of international humanitarian law.

Abdelatty made the comments during his meeting on Thursday with Palestinian Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Mohammad Mustafa on the fringe of a preparatory meeting of Arab foreign ministers ahead of the 34th Arab Summit, which is set to be held in Iraq's Baghdad on Saturday.

The top Egyptian diplomat reviewed Egypt's efforts to restore the ceasefire in Gaza and allow the access of humanitarian and medial aid into the Palestinian enclave.

The pair discussed the joint efforts made by Egypt and the Palestinian Authority to implement the Gaza reconstruction plan and finalize the arrangements for Egypt's hosting of an international conference for the reconstruction of the Palestinian enclave.

The meeting took up how to enable the Palestinian Authority to run Gaza as being the legitimate governing power.

The two sides tackled the developments in the West Bank, amid the continuation of Israeli military operations, where Abdelatty expressed Egypt's blanket rejection of violations and incursions by Israeli settlers and the expansion of settlement activities and land confiscation. (MENA)
