CAIRO, May 13 (MENA) - Egypt has welcomed US President Donald Trump's emphasis on the Palestinian people's right for a better future; as part of a speech he delivered on Tuesday during his current visit to Saudi Arabia.

Egypt expresses its aspiration that the US president’s important Gulf tour of Saudi Arabia, the UAE and Qatar along with the release of an American hostage through Egyptian, Qatari and American mediation efforts would contribute to achieving progress on the issues of ceasefire, the release of all captives and detainees, and the entry of urgent humanitarian aid to alleviate the suffering of the Palestinian people, who truly deserve a better future on their land, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Emigration and Egyptian Expatriates said in a statement.

Egypt counts on President Trump's leadership to achieve regional security and stability to be the culmination of his efforts that aim to establish lasting peace and achieve regional stability, said the statement.

Egypt also stressed the need to support the Egyptian-Qatari-American mediation efforts to achieve a ceasefire and maintain the delivery of humanitarian aid to the Gaza Strip as a prelude to the implementation of the Arab plan for the early recovery and reconstruction of the enclave.

According to the statement, Egypt urges all parties not to obstruct those efforts in order to meet the rights and aspirations of the peoples of the region for peace, prosperity, and development, including the Palestinian people’s right to establish their independent state within the June 4, 1967 lines with Al Quds (East Jerusalem) as its capital.
