CAIRO, April 30 (MENA) - Finance Minister Ahmed Kouchouk on Wednesday had a meeting with Abdel Mohsen Salama, one of the candidates vying for the post of the Journalists' Syndicate head, to discuss developing the syndicate's financial resources.
During the meeting, the minister expressed his full appreciation for the press and journalists, and his belief in the important role played by the Egyptian press in supporting the State's efforts in all fields.
He also asserted its ability to overcome all economic difficulties caused by the current regional and international developments.
Veteran journalist Abdel Mohsen Salama said he discussed with the finance minister means to develop the Journalists Syndicate's financial resources, stressing the necessity of working to raise the standard of living for all journalists.
This will be achieved by providing an integrated economic package, including increasing the training and technology allowance to help improve the journalists' living conditions, and increasing the annual subsidy allocated to the Journalists Syndicate, he added.
He also stressed the need to work on bilateral coordination to provide further support to the syndicate in its activities, training, and healthcare services.
This will help create a stimulating work environment for journalists that will encourage them to exert utmost effort in the coming period, Salama said. (MENA)
