CAIRO, April 25 (MENA) – President Abdel Fattah El Sisi said on Friday that a just and comprehensive peace will only be achieved by establishing an independent Palestinian state in accordance with relevant international legitimacy resolutions.

This alone is the true guarantee for ending cycles of violence and revenge and achieving lasting peace, Sisi added in a speech on the occasion of the 43rd anniversary of Sinai liberation.

Egypt, as history has shown, stands as a mighty bulwark against attempts to liquidate the Palestinian cause, the president noted.

Cairo affirms that the reconstruction of the Gaza Strip has to be carried out in accordance with the Arab-Islamic plan without any form of displacement in order to preserve the Palestinians’ legitimate rights and protect "our national security", he pointed out.

"Amid the unprecedented challenges facing the region, the war in the Gaza Strip continues, destroying everything and claiming the lives of tens of thousands of victims in a shameful humanitarian tragedy that will remain etched in history," Sisi said.

"From the first moment, Egypt’s position was clear and unambiguous, demanding a ceasefire, the release of hostages and detainees, and the delivery of sufficient humanitarian aid," he added.

The president also highlighted Egypt’s stance as regards firmly rejecting any displacement of Palestinians from their land.

Sisi stressed that peace between Egypt and Israel, achieved through US mediation, is a model to be emulated for ending conflicts and vengeful tendencies, as well as for establishing peace and stability.

"A just peace is the option that everyone should strive for," the president said.

In this regard, we look forward that the international community, led by the United States and President Donald Trump in particular, plays the expected role in this file, he added. (MENA)
