CAIRO, April 22 (MENA) - Senate Speaker Abdel-Wahab Abdel Razeq offered sincere condolences to Christians in Egypt and the entire world over the death of Pope Francis,
of the Vatican.

The Senate speaker described the deceased Pope - during Senate plenary session Tuesday - as an icon of peace, love and tolerance; pure voice of wisdom, luminous mind of tolerance and a beating heart with love for others.

Abdel Razeq said Pope Francis loved all people and this was clearly demonstrated in his constant efforts to spread peace, advocating issues in support of the weak, refugees and the oppressed, especially defending Palestine and the oppressed people of Gaza.

"We supplicate God Almighty to grant Pope Francis eternal rest and to inspire his family and loved ones with patience and solace, " said the Senate speaker.

Pope Francis died on Easter Monday, April 21, 2025, at the age of 88 at his residence in the Vatican's Casa Santa Marta. (MENA)
