CAIRO, April 7 (MENA) - The Cabinet's media center on Monday refuted rumors about government's plans to demolish historic buildings and shops, as a part of the Down Town Cairo development plan.
A video published by social media accounts of the media center affirmed that the renovation of the area will be carried out in line with a vision that respects the area’s historical significance, in order to preserve its iconic status and architectural heritage.
The historic buildings will remain intact and activities of the shops will not be affected by the modernization work, the center confirmed.
The development project will be implemented in accordance with an architecture plan exclusively designed to utilize the bustling Down Town Cairo area and turn it into a tourist destination, the video added.
The media center pleaded with people to verify information from credible sources, in order to avoid causing confusion. (MENA)
