CAIRO, April 7 (MENA) - French President Emmanuel Macron Monday praised efforts of President Abdel El Sisi to achieve peace in the Middle East.

"We appreciate president Sisi's efforts to realize peace in the region. We reject the forced displacement of Palestinians and support the Arab plan for Gaza reconstruction," Macron said.

The French president made the remarks during a joint press conference with president Sisi at the Ittihadiya Palace, following a tete a tete session of talks and the signing of a number of agreements and Memoranda of Understanding (MoU) between the two countries.

The two sides also inked a joint declaration to elevate Egyptian-French relations to the level of strategic partnership.

Macron arrived here Sunday on an official three-day visit to Egypt. (MORE)
