CAIRO, March 23 (MENA) - Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouli attended the national conference announcing the winners of the third cycle of Egypt’s Smart Green Projects Initiative.

The event included ministers, governors, UN officials, private sector representatives, and development partners.

The initiative received 5,731 submissions from across all governorates. Cairo ranked first with 1,056 projects, followed by Alexandria, Giza, Beheira, and Aswan.

Winning projects were selected across six categories: large-scale projects, medium projects, small local projects (linked to Haya Karima), startup projects, women- and climate-focused development projects, and nonprofit community initiatives.

The conference also featured presentations from ministers and UN officials on sustainability and local development.

During the event, the Ministry of Planning launched the second edition of its localized Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) reports, tracking governorate-level progress using new composite indicators developed with the OECD.

A digital dashboard was also launched to provide regularly updated data to policymakers and support evidence-based decision-making.

The initiative supports Egypt’s green transition by encouraging innovation, sustainable practices, and climate-conscious development at the local level. (MENA)
