CAIRO, March 20 (MENA) - Under directives of President Abdel Fattah El Sisi, Minister of Foreign Affairs, Emigration and Egyptian Expatriates Badr Abdelatty visited Tanzania, where he met with President Samia Suluhu Hassan on Thursday, the foreign ministry said in a statement.
The minister delivered a written message from Sisi to Hassan, focusing on ways to enhance and deepen cooperation and consultation between the two friendly nations across various sectors.
Abdelatty expressed Egypt’s eagerness to welcome Hassan in Cairo to further expand the distinguished relations to broader horizons.
Hassan expressed her appreciation for the strong fraternal bonds and friendship that unite the two countries and their peoples.
Abdelatty highlighted the growing interest of Egyptian investors in the Tanzanian market and efforts to enhance trade exchange between the two countries.
He stressed the importance of increasing Egyptian investments in Tanzania and involving Egyptian companies in executing more infrastructure and major national projects there.
The top diplomat noted that his visit to Tanzania was accompanied by a high-level delegation representing Egyptian companies specializing in infrastructure, construction, pharmaceuticals, logistics, agriculture, industry, food security, energy, and fisheries.
The meeting also addressed recent developments in the Julius Nyerere Hydropower Dam project, which is being implemented by an Egyptian consortium comprising Arab Contractors and El Sewedy Electric. The project's completion rate has now reached 99.9%.
Abdelatty also discussed key files of mutual interest, especially water security, reiterating Egypt’s support for development in the Nile Basin based on the principles of mutual benefit and avoiding harm to any party.
He pointed to the launch of a new investment mechanism for water and development projects in the Southern Nile Basin countries, in which Egypt actively participates, mobilizing funding from international donors.
Additionally, the discussion covered several crises in Africa and the Middle East. (MENA)
