CAIRO, March 18 (MENA) - Egypt condemned in the strongest possible terms Israeli airstrikes that targeted the Gaza Strip early Tuesday morning, leaving so far more than 300 Palestinians killed most of them women and children, constituting a flagrant violation of the ceasefire agreement and a serious escalation that threatens regional stability.

In a press release issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Emigration and Egyptian Expatriates, Egypt reiterated its complete rejection of all Israeli attacks aimed at re-escalating tensions in the region and thwarting efforts meant to calm the situation and restore stability.

Egypt called on the international community to intervene immediately to halt the Israeli aggression on the Gaza Strip and prevent the region from slipping into a renewed cycle of violence and counter-violence, the statement read.

Egypt also urged all parties to exercise restraint and allow mediators to press ahead with efforts to reach a permanent ceasefire, it added. (MENA)
