CAIRO, Feb 25 (MENA) – President Abdel Fattah El Sisi asserted Egypt’s keenness on promoting bilateral cooperation with Cyprus in the domains of mutual interest especially the field of energy, trade and investment.
He also asserted the depth of relations between both countries in addition to the effective political coordination between them, pointing out to the importance of parliamentary cooperation as a main cornerstone for boosting bilateral relations and understanding between both countries.
This came during Sisi’s meeting on Tuesday with Cypriot Parliament Speaker Annita Demetriou in presence of Egyptian Parliament Speaker Hanafy Gebaly and the Cypriot ambassador in Cairo.
Sisi necessitated continuous consultations and coordination between Egypt and Cyprus including three-way cooperation between Egypt, Cyprus and Greece.
The meeting tackled the latest regional and international developments including the situation in Gaza, Syria and Lebanon, Presidential Spokesman Mohamed el Shennawy said.
Meanwhile, Demetriou lauded the distinguished level of relations between Egypt and Cyprus, saying that her visit reflects mutual keenness on exchanging parliamentary visits between both countries, the spokesman said.
She also praised Egypt’s pivotal role to guarantee security and stability in the region, the spokesman added. (MENA)
