CAIRO, Feb 2 (MENA) - Minister of Foreign Affairs and Emigration Badr Abdelatty discussed in a phone call Sunday with his Equatorial Guinean counterpart Simeon Oyono Esono Angue ways to achieve security and stability in the African continent, especially the developments in the eastern Democratic Republic of the Congo and Sudan.
Equatorial Guinea is the current president of the African Peace and Security Council this month.
The two sides stressed the importance of intensifying efforts to support political solutions for conflicts and enhance stability in the continent.
Abdelatty began the call by conveying the greetings of President Abdel Fattah El Sisi to President Teodoro Obiang Nguema of the Republic of Equatorial Guinea, praising the close relations between the two countries and expressing keenness to enhance bilateral cooperation in various fields.
The ministers addressed the positive developments in bilateral relations, as Abdelatty stressed the importance of strengthening economic and trade ties, and encouraging the private sector to increase investments and cooperate in development projects that benefit both sides.
In this context, Abdelatty invited Angue to visit Egypt at the earliest opportunity to enhance aspects of joint cooperation.
Within the framework of the ongoing preparations for the participation of Egypt and Equatorial Guinea in the upcoming African Union Summit, the ministers stressed keenness on continuous coordination within the African Union institutions and agreed to exchange support for the two countries’ nominees for international positions.
