CAIRO, Dec 11 (MENA) – The Egyptian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Migration, in collaboration with the European Union (EU), held three technical workshops to address migration issues as part of their strategic and comprehensive partnership.

The workshops included representatives from Egyptian authorities, the European Commission, the EU Delegation in Cairo, and several European embassies.

The discussions covered critical areas such as migration and mobility, talent partnerships to facilitate skill migration through legal pathways, and processes for return, readmission, and reintegration.

Deputy Assistant Minister of Foreign Affairs for Migration, Refugees and Combating Human Trafficking Wael Badawi, emphasized that the workshops fostered meaningful dialogue on mutual priorities, reflecting the importance of the Egypt-EU partnership.

The Egyptian side highlighted its priorities in migration management, advocating for a comprehensive approach that balances humanitarian, developmental, and security aspects.

They also stressed the importance of creating regular pathways for skill mobility that benefit both migrants and the economies of Egypt and Europe.

Egypt called for increased EU support to address the burdens it bears due to ongoing migration flows and regional crises, emphasizing the principle of shared responsibility.

The EU delegation reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening cooperation with Egypt, endorsing the outlined priorities and expressing its intent to provide continued support. (MENA)
