CAIRO, Dec 11 (MENA) - Ambassador to Slovenia Nahla El Zawahry reaffirmed Cairo's commitment to strengthening parliamentary and legislative relations with Ljubljana.

Zawahry met with President of the Slovenian National Assembly Urška Klakočar Zupančič to deliver an invitation from Speaker of the House of Representatives Hanafy Gebaly to visit Egypt.

The invitation aims to bolster cooperation between the parliaments of the two countries.

Zawahry highlighted Egypt’s interest in exploring promising investment opportunities in sectors of mutual interest.

Zupančič welcomed the invitation, confirming that she would prioritize the visit as part of her international travel agenda for 2025.

She emphasized her dedication to fostering robust parliamentary diplomacy with legislative bodies worldwide, with a special focus on African nations, particularly Egypt.

Zupančič noted Egypt's key role in deepening parliamentary and legislative collaboration.

Expressing her admiration for Egypt's civilization and history, Zupančič shared her profound appreciation for the country, rooted in her in-depth studies of world history.

She described Egypt as the cradle of civilization, with its rich cultural heritage and ancient legacy.

The two officials also exchanged views on recent developments in the Middle East, particularly the Israeli war on Gaza.

Zawahry conveyed Egypt's deep appreciation for Slovenia's distinguished stance on the Palestinian issue, including its recognition of the State of Palestine and its ongoing efforts within its non-permanent membership in the UN Security Council to advance initiatives for a ceasefire and the delivery of humanitarian aid.
