CAIRO, Nov 26 (MENA) - Egypt participated in launching the Baku Call on Climate Action for Peace, Relief, and Recovery within the activities of the 29th Conference of the Parties to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change that took place in Baku, Azerbaijan.

In a statement released on Tuesday, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Emigration and Egyptian Expatriates said Ambassador Wael Aboulmagd, Deputy Assistant Minister of Foreign Affairs for Environmental Affairs and Sustainable Development, noted the Egypt launched the Climate Responses for Sustaining Peace (CRSP) Initiative at the COP27.

The initiative aims to tackle problems relating to the ways in which climate change can negatively impact peace-building and peace-keeping efforts and contribute to igniting conflicts particularly on the African continent.

Aboulmagd stated the Baku Call on Climate Action for Peace, Relief, and Recovery underscores the importance of adopting inclusive responses and taking practical steps that include increasing climate finance to address the repercussions of climate change on priority issues for Africa, such as water security and climate-related displacement.
