KAZAN, Russia, Oct 25 (MENA) - The Middle East News Agency (MENA) and TV BRICS International Media Network signed a cooperation agreement to exchange news, provide full press coverage of important events, and establish and facilitate communication with media institutions in the BRICS countries.

The leading media outlet of Egypt, the Middle East News Agency (MENA), has joined the information exchange network with BRICS+ countries through the TV BRICS International Media Network. The announcement of this effective partnership coincided with the 16th BRICS Summit, hosted by the he Russian city of Kazan.

The agreement was signed by MENA Board Chairman and Editor-in-Chief Ahmed Kamal and CEO of TV BRICS International Media Network Janna Tolstikova on the sidelines of the BRICS summit in Kazan city.

The deal aims to establish an appropriate framework to enhance communication and dialogue between BRICS countries in the media domains.

"The memorandum of cooperation between the Middle East News Agency and TV BRICS represents an important step towards enhancing media cooperation and mutual understanding among BRICS countries, disseminating accurate information about events taking place in these countries, and combating fake news," said Ahmed Kamal, Chairman of the Board and Editor-in-Chief of MENA.

"Egypt's official joining to the BRICS group on January 1, 2024, marked an important milestone in developing strategic cooperation aimed at promoting the interests of emerging economies in the international arena and raising the voice of the Global South," Kamal further noted.

Egypt is constantly working to strengthen economic, trade, cultural, and media cooperation with the BRICS countries, which together represent about 50 percent of the world’s population, Kamal added.

Egypt is working to develop mechanisms for interaction in the field of media that will allow BRICS members to strengthen interstate dialogue, Kamal stressed.

For her part, Janna Tolstikova, CEO of the TV BRICS International Media Network, said that over its nearly 70 years of operation, the Middle East News Agency has proven to be a reliable platform, providing its readers with verified and high-quality content.

The cooperation with MENA will lead to significant results in establishing intercultural dialogue between Egypt, BRICS countries, and the group’s partner states, Tolstikova added.

In the run-up to the 16th BRICS Summit in Russia's Kazan city, and as part of its genuine efforts to enhance interaction with media in the Arab world, TV BRICS announced the launch of content in Arabic.

TV BRICS is the official website for key news and projects in the fields of culture and economy from BRICS countries and their partners, with a potential audience of 3.5 billion people. (MENA)
