CAIRO, April 23 (MENA) - Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouli has affirmed that presidential initiatives in the health sector are providing a boost to efforts to offer medical services to citizens and reach out to them across all governorates.
These effective initiatives have contributed to the early detection of several diseases; thus increasing chances of recovery from many chronic diseases, he added.
Madbouli made the remarks during his meeting on Wednesday with Minister of Health and Population Khaled Abdel Ghaffar to review a thorough report on key indicators of the implementation of a presidential initiative meant to put an end to waiting lists.
The presidential initiative to end waiting lists is accelerating the implementation of critical medical interventions to alleviate the suffering of patients, the prime minister said.
He also highlighted the importance of the role played by the medical sector in preserving the health of citizens and providing healthcare for various categories of people.
During the meeting, the health minister said the presidential initiative to end waiting lists has seen significant progress, with approximately 2.6 million patients benefiting from the initiative so far after undergoing surgical interventions at a total cost of nearly EGP 24.4 billion.
The number of patients on waiting lists decreased from 50,500 in 2024 to 32,400 in 2025, the minister added. (MENA)
