Lebanese Foreign Minister Raji expressed his happiness for visiting Egypt, voicing gratitude for the warm and fraternal welcome accorded to him.
He told reporters at the joint press conference following official talks with his Egyptian counterpart, Raji stated that Egypt has a special place in the hearts of the Lebanese people. He conveyed the gratitude of the Lebanese people and government to Egypt and President Sisi for their consistent and unwavering support, particularly in diplomatic efforts to end the Israeli occupation of Lebanese territory.
He noted that a new and promising era has begun in Lebanon under President Aoun and Prime Minister Salam, who are strongly backed by the Lebanese people, the Arab world, and international partners across political, diplomatic, and economic spheres.
He said the talks with the Egyptian side focused on strengthening bilateral relations and enhancing trade and cultural exchanges, especially after Lebanon’s prolonged presidential vacuum. He expressed hope for deeper ties with Egypt and other Arab nations during this new phase.
Raji also highlighted discussions on the situation in Syria, particularly the issue of 1.5 million Syrian refugees in Lebanon. He called on the international community to assist in facilitating their return, stressing the heavy economic, social, and security burdens Lebanon has endured.
The talks with the Egyptian side also covered the need to demarcate land and maritime borders with Syria, as well as broader regional issues, the minister said.
He affirmed Lebanon’s full support for Egypt’s approach to the war in Gaza and expressed solidarity with Egypt’s efforts to end the humanitarian crisis facing the Palestinian people, especially in Gaza.
