CAIRO, April 11 (MENA) - Minister of Foreign Affairs, Emigration and Egyptian Expatriates Badr Abdelatty on Friday participated in an Arab-Islamic ministerial committee meeting on Gaza, which was held on the sidelines of the Antalya Diplomacy Forum.

Abdelatty reiterated Egypt's complete rejection of any attempts to change the demographic structure of the Gaza Strip through proposals of displacement of the Palestinians.

Such acts are considered a flagrant violation of international humanitarian law and undermine peace efforts and threaten regional peace and security, he added.

Spokesman for the Foreign Ministry Tamim Khallaf said the meeting came to follow up the recent Arab summit in Cairo and implement its outputs.

The foreign minister highlighted efforts aimed at immediately applying the ceasefire agreement, that went into effect on January 19, he added.

Abdelatty emphasized the necessity of the transition into the second phase of the agreement to contribute to releasing hostages and prisoners and the withdrawal of the Israeli forces from Gaza.

He tackled ongoing moves to promote the Arab-Islamic plan for Gaza reconstruction.

He underscored the necessity of empowering the Palestinian Authority and spotlighted the role of Egypt and Jordan in training Palestinian police elements to be deployed in the war-torn enclave.

Participants were keen on confirming the support for the Early Recovery and Reconstruction Plan and the reconstruction conference, which will be held in Egypt. (MENA)
