CAIRO, April 9 (MENA) - The Second Ministerial Meeting of the Khartoum Process wrapped up on Wednesday with the unanimous approval of the Cairo Declaration and the Cairo Action Plan.
The meeting was chaired by Minister of Foreign Affairs, Emigration and Egyptian Expatriates Badr Abdelatty.
Abdelatty handed over the Khartoum Process presidency to French Minister of State at the Ministry of the Interior François-Noël Buffet following Egypt, which assumed presidency since April, 2024.
The French minister presented priorities of his country while chairing the Khartoum Process that includes 40 countries including EU countries, Switzerland, Norway, Horn of Africa and Eastern Africa states along with EU Commission and African Union Commission as well as a number of international organizations.
Launched in November 2014 at its first ministerial conference in Rome, the Khartoum Process — also known as the EU-Horn of Africa Migration Route Initiative — aims to promote dialogue and regional cooperation on migration between the Horn of Africa and Europe.
Its core focus includes combating human trafficking and migrant smuggling through concrete joint initiatives. (MENA)
