CAIRO, April 9 (MENA) - Minister of Foreign Affairs, Emigration and Egyptian Expatriates Badr Abdelatty asserted the depth of Egyptian-German relations, commending the distinguished and unique level of ties in the different political and economic fields.

Abdelatty's remarks came at a meeting with Prime Minister of Saxony in Germany Michael Kretschmer on the sidelines of the Second Ministerial Meeting of the Khartoum Process, that is hosted by Cairo on Wednesday.

Abdelaaty voiced utmost keenness on developing cooperation between Egypt and the German Free State of Saxony.

He tackled the different investment opportunities in Egypt, with an emphasis on activities in the Suez Canal Economic Zone (SCZONE).

Saxony can benefit from incentives offered by the Egyptian government to foreign investors to ensure the protection of their investments, he said.

The minister highlighted wide-scale reforms made by the Egyptian government to modernize economic and financial policies to lure foreign investments.

Meanwhile, the meeting discussed the situation in the Gaza Strip. Abdelatty reviewed Egypt's tireless efforts to maintain the ceasefire agreement and stop the Israeli escalation against the Palestinian people. Talks also tackled the Arab Recovery and Reconstruction Plan in the war-torn enclave.

Launched in November 2014 at its first ministerial conference in Rome, the Khartoum Process — also known as the EU-Horn of Africa Migration Route Initiative — aims to promote dialogue and regional cooperation on migration between the Horn of Africa and Europe.

Its core focus includes combating human trafficking and migrant smuggling through concrete joint initiatives. (MENA)
