BUDAPEST, March 30 (MENA) - The Egyptian foil team succeeded in achieving a stunning victory Sunday over its Korean counterpart in the quarter-finals of the Men's Fencing World Cup in Hungary during the period between March 28 and 30.

The Egyptian national team was able to defeat Korea, the gold medalist at the last Paris Olympics and ranked first in the world, with a score of 45-42, thus qualifying for the semi-final match and getting close to achieving a new world medal.

The Egyptian national team is expected to face French counterpart in the semi-final match shortly to determine the qualifier for the final match.

The team has begun its tournament journey by defeating its counterpart, the Bulgarian national team, in the round of 32 match, with a score of 45-30, before winning the semi-final match over the Romanian team, with a score of 45-38.

The team is represented in the tournament by Ziad el-Sisi, Mohamed Amer, Adham Moataz and Mazen el-Arabi.

It is noteworthy that the Egyptian team previously won the silver medal in the World Cup Championship held May, 2024 in Spain. (MENA)
