CAIRO, March 23 (MENA) - Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouli on Sunday reviewed progress achieved in allocating lands for projects new and renewable energy, in particular the green hydrogen, as well as the status of energy as for the upcoming summer.
The premier made the remarks during a meeting attended by Minister of Electricity and Renewable Energy Mahmoud Esmat, Minister of Finance Ahmed Kouchouk, Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources Karim Badawi, National Center for Planning State Land Use Head Naser Fawzy a and host of officials.
During the meeting, the electricity minister highlighted the potential of green hydrogen production projects and key projects with sites have been allocated for feasibility studies, along with projects to be implemented in collaboration with the Ministry of Transportation.
Esmat presented documents related to green hydrogen projects and a road-map for implementing agreements of various renewable energy initiatives, including eight Memoranda of Understanding (MoU)s and 15 framework agreements with 23 companies and alliances.
He reviewed the Electricity Ministry's plan for the summer of 2025, in coordination with relevant authorities, and the availability of fuel and natural gas for power generation.
Meanwhile, head of the National Center for Planning State Land Use expounded the status of land allocation for new and renewable energy projects across various targeted regions since 2016.
The total area of land allocate under presidential decrees is nearly 41,300 square kilometers, while the issuance of decrees for additional 4,859.3 square kilometers is still underway, Fawzy said.
He added that the overall total area allocated for energy projects is almost 46,200 square kilometers, equivalent to about 10.9 million acres (AL)
