SOFIA, March 29 (MENA) - Foreign Minister Georg Georgiev addressed the ambassadors of Arab countries accredited in Sofia at the beginning of iftar that he hosted for them, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs reported.
Georgiev was quoted by the Bulgarian News Agency as saying that he was honoured to meet the ambassadors during the holy month of Ramadan, a time of reflection, generosity and unity.
The Minister said: "Over the years, our nations have built a lasting relationship based on respect, trust and cooperation in trade, investment, energy, education and cultural exchanges. These ties are an example of how traditional values are passed on as a model of peaceful coexistence." He emphasized that Bulgaria remains committed to strengthening economic ties, promoting diplomatic dialogue and addressing urgent global issues in cooperation with its Arab partners.
The Bulgarian top diplomat said that against the backdrop of escalating tensions in the Middle East and the huge number of casualties and devastating destruction in Gaza, Sudan, Yemen, Syria and Lebanon, the advancement of the second phase of the ceasefire agreement in Gaza is crucial not only for the civilians and the release of the hostages but also for regional security. "A just and lasting peace can only be achieved through renewed negotiations backed by the international community. We support the Arab plan for the reconstruction of Gaza and initiatives such as the Global Alliance for the Implementation of the Two-State Solution that seek a just and secure future for all," said Georgiev.
