CAIRO, March 21 (MENA) - Minister of Investment and Foreign Trade Hassan el-Khatib asserted the Egyptian government’s commitment to providing a luring-investment environment for French investors highlighting efforts to develop the business sector and improve regulatory procedures to support foreign companies operating in Egypt.

During a meeting with French ambassador to Cairo Éric Chevallier to discuss prospects for joint cooperation and opportunities to enhance Egyptian-French economic partnership, the minister of investment and foreign trade voiced appreciation of distinguished historical ties binding Egypt and France.

Khatib referred to promising opportunities available in the Egyptian market, especially in the fields of renewable energy, technological industry and infrastructure, calling on French companies to take advantage of these opportunities and expand their investments in Egypt.

He praised the role of French companies contributing to supporting the Egyptian economy, explaining that French investments contribute significantly to creating job opportunities and promoting economic growth in various sectors.

The minister accentuated the importance of enhancing joint cooperation in the fields of technology transfer and localization of advanced industries, stressing the government’s readiness to support initiatives that contribute to enhancing innovation and increasing local production.

Khatib said government efforts aim at strengthening the partnership between the public and private sectors, noting that France is a strategic partner of Egypt in number of major projects.

For his part, the French ambassador to Cairo expressed his country's appreciation for the close relations with Egypt, praising efforts made to enhance economic and investment cooperation between the two countries.

Chevalier stressed France's commitment to supporting joint investments that achieve sustainable development and joint interests of both French and Egyptian economies.
