CAIRO, March 21 (MENA) - The National council of childhood & motherhood (NCCM) continues efforts to promote children’s rights in Egypt through implementing a set of initiatives and programs aimed at improving the quality of services provided to children and protecting them from various forms of violence and exploitation.

During the first quarter of 2025, the NCCM realized important achievements in the areas of protection, education, health care and psychological support.

During a meeting of the Human Rights Committee of the House of Representatives in January 2025, NCCM's President Sahar el-Sunbati shed light on the Council’s commitment to implement an integrated national strategy to guarantee children’s rights. The strategy envisaged combating all forms of violence against children and ensuring a safe environment that guarantees them protection from exploitation and discrimination.

The Council also pressed ahead with providing psychological support services to children suffering from the effects of violence or social challenges, in cooperation with relevant authorities and civil society organizations, to ensure guaranteeing a healthy environment that supports healthy growth of children.

As part of efforts to reduce harmful practices against children, the Council launched the “Friend them, you will win them” initiative, with the aim of providing educational consultations to parents on positive parenting methods and proper dealing with children.

This initiative is part of the Presidential Initiative “A New Beginning for Human Building,” that focuses on supporting the Egyptian family in raising generations that enjoy good psychological and behavioral health.

The Council also works in cooperation with the Ministry of Education and civil society organizations to ensure that children have access to fair educational opportunities, by combating the phenomenon of dropout and improving the quality of curricula and educational services.

Efforts also include supporting children with special needs and providing an inclusive educational environment that ensures their effective participation.

As regards the health care domain, the Council provides integrated health services for children, with a focus on combating malnutrition, promoting maternal and child health and raising awareness of the importance of periodic vaccinations, including launching awareness campaigns to ensure that children receive appropriate health care to help in their development at different age stages.
