CAIRO, March 10 (MENA) - Minister of Foreign Affairs, Emigration and Egyptian Expatriates Badr Abdelatty said Egypt looks forward to fostering cooperation with Albania in different areas, exchanging high-level visits and holding the upcoming round of political consultations in Cairo.

Abdelatty's remarks came in a phone call on Monday with Albanian Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs Igli Hasani.

During the phone conversation, the top Egyptian diplomat underlined the importance of exchanging business visits to explore cooperation in the fields of real estate, tourism and medical supplies, which allows for increasing the rates of trade exchange between Egypt and Albania.

Abdelatty emphasized the significance of holding the first round of the joint economic committee and forming an Egyptian-Albanian business forum to strengthen trade and investment cooperation.

He also lauded the tripartite cooperation agreement grouping Egypt, Albania and Hungary to establish the first submarine data cable linking Egypt to Albania, providing a new opportunity for expansion into European markets.

The Egyptian foreign minister stated culture plays a key role in strengthening ties, citing the Union for the Mediterranean's selection of Alexandria and Tirana as the first cities of culture and dialogue in the Mediterranean region for 2025.

Abdelatty highly praised the fruitful coordination between Egypt and Albania in regional and international forums.

He also stressed Egypt's keenness to continue cooperation with Albania in capacity building, through scholarships and training programs offered by Al-Azhar and the Egyptian Agency of Partnership for Development (EAPD) respectively.

Abdelatty reviewed Egypt's position on the situation in the Gaza Strip and its efforts to stabilize the ceasefire agreement in the Palestinian enclave, as well as the country's plan for Gaza reconstruction, which was endorsed by the extraordinary Arab summit hosted by Cairo on March 4.

In this context, the Egyptian foreign minister commended Albania's stance on rejecting the displacement of Gaza residents. (MENA)
