AMMAN, Feb 24 (MENA) - Arab League (AL) Secretary-General Ahmed Abul Gheit stressed the importance of promoting Arab cooperation in the technology and artificial intelligence (AI) sectors, saying that technological development, digital transformation and artificial intelligence have become an Arab necessity to keep pace with the latest developments in this regard.
In exclusive statements to MENA Monday - on the sidelines of the opening of the 2nd edition of the “Digital Cooperation and Development Forum,” that is being held in Jordan under the slogan “Our Vision, Our World, Our Future,” the Al chief said, technology and AI require great cooperation between Arab countries, especially that AI advances are currently dominating the global scene.
The pan-Arab body's chief urged the governments of Arab countries to incorporate up-to-date technological trends in educational programs and curricula in schools and universities that specialize in teaching technology, especially IT.
Abul Gheit pointed out that digital transformation and AI constitute a major revolution like those that occurred in electricity and nuclear energy, accentuating the necessity of pressing ahead with adopting modern advances and preparing skilled cadres, scientists, experts in the field of technology and IT.
He noted that all efforts and drives in the field of technology would result in great progress to the Arab world.
Meantime, the AL chief said Arab countries, including Egypt have many universities and technological institutes achieving outstanding progress in the field of information technology and AI.
Abul Gheit noted that Gulf countries are capable of financing activities related to the technology and IT spheres for the benefit and progress of the Arab world. (MENA)
