CAIRO, Feb 12 (MENA) - Minister of Foreign Affairs, Emigration and Egyptian Expatriates Badr Abdelatty asserted Wednesday Egypt's commitment to back Comoros in the various domains in a way that helps promote stability and sustainable development.
The Egyptian foreign minister stressed importance of building on cooperation achieved in vital sectors; education, health, infrastructure and energy.
Abdelatty made the remarks on the sidelines of his meeting with Minister for Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of Comoros Mbae Mohamed on the sidelines of the 46th Ordinary Session of the Executive Council of the African Union (AU), currently in session in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.
During the meeting, he underlined the depth of ties between Cairo and Moroni.
The two sides also discussed means of boosting economic cooperation and beefing up Egypt's investments in the Comoros.
In this regard, the Egyptian foreign minister expressed Egypt's keenness on encouraging Egyptian companies to invest in the infrastructure and renewable energy sectors, with a view to achieving economic integration between the two countries.
Egypt is also ready to support efforts made by Comoros to achieve sustainable development, via transferring Egyptian expertise and promoting capacity-building and training programs to contribute to the development of its national capabilities of Comoros in different areas, Abdelatty said.
He also voiced Egypt's preparedness to offer training courses, through the Egyptian Agency of Partnership for Development (EAPD) and educational grants provided by Al-Azhar Al-Sharif and the Higher Education Ministry.
Meantime, the two ministers discussed mechanism to promote joint cooperation at regional and international gatherings, particularly within the AU, the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) and the United Nations (UN).
They agreed on continuing consultations on important issues of mutual interest, topped by enhancing security and stability, backing efforts to fight terrorism and extremism and promoting sustainable development in the African continent, along with achieving the AU's Agenda 2063.
