CAIRO, Feb 7 (MENA) - Minister of Foreign Affairs, Emigration and Egyptian Expatriates Affairs Badr Abdelatty conducted intensive contacts over the past hours under the directives of the President Abdel Fattah El Sisi with a number of his Arab counterparts within the framework of coordinating Arab positions and consultations on the developments of the Palestinian issue and the catastrophic conditions in the Gaza Strip and the West Bank.
Abdelatty’s contacts included with the foreign ministers of Saudi Arabia, the UAE, Kuwait, Oman, Bahrain, the current chair of the Arab Summit.
He also contacted his counterparts in Jordan, Iraq, Algeria, Tunisia, Mauritania and Sudan.
The contacts witnessed an exchange of views on the developments in the Palestinian issue, and an emphasis on the constants of the Arab position on the Palestinian issue.
Arabs reject any measures aimed at displacing the Palestinian people from their land, or encouraging their transfer out of the Palestinian territories, in light of what these perceptions and ideas represent in terms of a flagrant violation of international law, an infringement on Palestinian rights, a threat to security and stability in the region.
The contacts also reflected a consensus on the need to strive to reach a permanent and just political solution to the Palestinian issue through the only practical path, which is the establishment of an independent Palestinian state within the borders of June 4, 1967, with al-Quds (East Jerusalem) as its capital, in accordance with international legitimacy resolutions.
Abdelatty reviewed Egypt's efforts to ensure the sustainability of the ceasefire agreement in Gaza and the implementation of its provisions in its three time periods, the rapid delivery of humanitarian aid, and efforts to move forward with early recovery projects and programs, removing rubble, and reconstruction of the Palestinian houses, without the Palestinians leaving Gaza.
He stressed Egypt's support for the legitimate and inalienable rights of the Palestinian people.
The Arab ministers agreed to intensify communications between them during the coming period and to continue consultation and coordination with the rest of the Arab ministers. (MENA)
