CAIRO, Feb 4 (MENA) - President Abdel Fattah El Sisi and King Abdullah II of Jordan emphasized the importance of fully implementing Gaza ceasefire agreement and the urgent need to begin the reconstruction of the war-ravaged Palestinian enclave.

This came during a phone call President Sisi received Tuesday from the Jordanian monarch, according to spokesman for the Egyptian Presidency Mohamed El Shennawi.

The conversation between them took up regional developments, particularly the implementation of the ceasefire deal, including the exchange of prisoners and hostages, and the delivery of humanitarian aid to Gaza population.

The two leaders stressed the importance of achieving lasting peace in the region based on the two-state solution, which entails the establishment of an independent Palestinian state along the 1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital. This, they affirmed, is the only way to ensure peace and stability in the Middle East. They also highlighted the necessity of adopting a unified Arab position, which calls for a permanent peace agreement in the region that ensures stability and economic prosperity.

The official spokesman added that President Sisi and King Abdullah also discussed the situation in Syria, underscoring the need for restoring its stability, maintaining its unity and territorial integrity and protecting the security of its people. They emphasized the importance of launching an inclusive political process that does not exclude any party and involves all walks of life of the Syrian society.

They addressed as well the situation in Lebanon, reaffirming the need for the full implementation of the ceasefire agreement and the enforcement of UN Security Council Resolution 1701, expressing their commitment to Lebanon’s security, sovereignty, and stability.

They highlighted during their talks the need to maintain coordination and consultation and foster cooperation in various fields.
