CAIRO, Jan 27 (MENA) - Former Egyptian ambassador to Israel Atef Salem said Egypt's support for the Palestinian cause has never been and will never be subject to hidden interests or compromises.
In exclusive statements to MENA on Monday, Salem added the plot to displace Palestinians from their land is not new, as it is an Israeli dream and a systematic policy to control the entire lands of Palestine.
He noted the displacement of Palestinians is considered by Israelis as being the ideal solution to liquidate the Palestinian cause and undermine the prospect of achieving the two-state solution.
The diplomat stated the Egyptian leadership stands by the Palestinian people's right to end the Israeli occupation and establish an independent state on the 4 June 1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital.
He added the Israeli government seeks through the displacement plot to create a new reality and evade its responsibility as an occupying power.
Salem underlined the plot to move Palestinians out of their land will fail even if it enjoys the support of major Western powers.
He attributed the plot's failure to several reasons, including the Palestinian people's steadfastness and refusal to abandon their land and Egypt's rejection of the displacement of Gaza residents in any form or under any pretext, in addition to Jordan's adherence to its principle of supporting the Palestinian cause.
