CAIRO, Jan 17 (MENA) – Egyptian Ambassador to Kenya Wael Nasr Eddin Attiya handed over on Friday a written message from President Abdel Fattah El Sisi to his Kenyan counterpart Willian Ruto.
During a meeting at the Kenyan presidential HQ, the ambassador underlined Egypt’s appreciation of the pivotal role played by Kenya in east Africa and the Horn of Africa as well as promoting the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA).
He lauded the growing Egyptian-Kenyan trade exchange, standing at dlrs 800 million in 2024 in light of the two countries’ membership in COMEA.
He said Egypt ranked the 10th major trade partner for Kenya and the second importer of Kenya’s tea.
He underlined Egypt’s keenness on enhancing economic and technical cooperation.
For his part, the Kenyan president conveyed greetings to President Sisi and expressed desire to further cooperation with Egypt and benefit from Egypt’s expertise in the sectors of agriculture, irrigation, health, industry, clean energy and infrastructure.
The talks tackled a host of regional issues of mutual concern, especially means of enhancing trade and political coordination between the two countries. (MENA)
