CAIRO, Dec 23 (MENA) - Minister of Foreign Affairs, Emigration and Egyptian Expatriates Badr Abdelatty reaffirmed Egypt's firm position on respecting Somali's sovereignty, unity, and territorial integrity.

Abdelatty's remarks came at a joint press conference with Somali Foreign Minister Ahmed Maalim Fiqi on Monday.

Abdelatty welcomed his Somali counterpart and his visiting delegation in Egypt and asserted the visit reflects the depth and strength of historical ties between the two countries and peoples.

The foreign minister highlighted presidential directives by President Abdel Fattah El Sisi and Somali President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud to further develop relations on all fronts.

The foreign minister said the bilateral and plenary talks today tackled bilateral relations between the two countries and ways of developing them on all political cultural and economic fields, in addition to the situation in the Horn of Africa region and the Arab region.

Egypt and Somalia are two Arab and African countries and thus Arab-Arab relations, African-African relations and African-Arab relations were reviewed in the talks, he noted.

Abdelatty said efforts are focused on elevating the relations to the level of strategic partnership. (MORE)
