DUBLIN, Dec 10 (MENA) – Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty emphasized the historical importance of President Abdel Fattah El Sisi’s visit to Ireland, marking the first trip by an Egyptian president to the country.

The visit, part of a European tour that includes Denmark and Norway, underscores Egypt’s commitment to strengthening its ties with Northern Europe in political, economic, and investment spheres.

In an interview with ExtraNews, Abdelatty stated, “This visit demonstrates Egypt’s growing focus on fostering deeper relations with Northern European countries, particularly in key sectors like renewable energy, trade, and regional diplomacy.”

In Ireland, President Sisi will meet with senior officials, including Prime Minister Leo Varadkar, to discuss enhancing bilateral cooperation in politics, trade, and investment. The discussions will also address regional challenges, particularly the Palestinian issue, the crisis in Gaza, and the conflicts in Syria and Sudan.

Abdelatty highlighted Egypt’s focus on attracting investments from Northern European countries. Norway, home to the world’s largest sovereign wealth fund, featured prominently in Sisi’s tour, with meetings aimed at showcasing Egypt’s economic reforms and investment-friendly policies. Norwegian companies have expressed strong interest in sectors like renewable and clean energy.

Ireland’s progressive stance on international issues, such as its recognition of Palestine, has strengthened its role as a key partner for Egypt in addressing regional concern, according to him. Egypt’s humanitarian efforts in Sudan, including the establishment of relief corridors, were also emphasized during the visit, he said.

He reiterated Egypt’s call for a Syrian-led political process that respects Syria’s unity and sovereignty. He stressed the importance of a comprehensive political solution free from external interference.

The minister also highlighted the priority Egypt places on economic collaboration. Investment opportunities will feature prominently during Ireland visit, continuing Sisi’s focus on strengthening Egypt’s position as an attractive destination for international business.

Abdelatty concluded by affirming that the European tour reflects Egypt’s strategic vision to expand global partnerships, drive economic growth, and address regional challenges through diplomacy and cooperation. (MENA)
