CAIRO, July 6 (MENA) - Minister of Foreign Affairs and Emigration Badr Abdel Aati received on Saturday a message directed to President Abdel Fattah El Sisi from Chadian President Mahamat Idriss Deby on means to boost bilateral cooperation in different domains.

The message was delivered by the Chadian foreign minister, who is on his first visit to Egypt after assuming office in May, Spokesman for the Foreign Ministry Ahmed Abu Zeid said.

This came during a meeting between the two top diplomats which took place on the sidelines of a Sudanese civil and political powers conference which opened in Cairo this morning, the spokesman added.

Both ministers asserted that the extended historic relations between both countries are special, according to him.

Abdel Aati said that the foreign ministry is coordinating with other national bodies to follow up the implementation of joint cooperation programs between Egypt and Chad in the fields of agriculture, health, infrastructure, education, construction and development, Abu Zeid said.

The two sides exchanged views on the latest political and security developments in Sudan especially that Sudan’s neighboring countries are affected by the crisis and its humanitarian consequences, the spokesman said.

Both ministers agreed on the necessity to focus efforts on encouraging donor countries and international organizations concerned to fulfill their pledges to scale up humanitarian support to Sudan in coordination and cooperation with the neighboring countries to facilitate the delivery of humanitarian supplies to all the Sudanese regions and intensify work to reach a ceasefire agreement as soon as possible, he said.

Abdel Aati reiterated the importance of working on creating a common ground among all the influential Sudanese actors and reaching a consensus to realize comprehensive and permanent peace in Sudan, the spokesman added.

Abdel Aati asserted the importance of rallying and coordinating efforts of the international and regional parties to contain the crisis, he said.

Abdel Aati apprised his Chadian counterpart on Egyptian efforts to combat terrorism and extremist thought and stop spread of violence and terrorism in the African continent.

He expressed Egypt’s support to Chadian efforts aiming at combating terror and restoring security and stability.

Meanwhile, the Chadian minister expressed the keenness of the political leadership to develop relations with Egypt at the bilateral and regional levels.

He also lauded the tireless Egyptian efforts to solve the Sudanese crisis, expressing his wish to get Egypt’s support and benefit from its expertise in establishing a diplomatic institute in Chad.

He pointed out to the importance of increasing economic cooperation and trade exchange in addition to seizing the opportunities and available wealth in both countries as well as exchanging expertise in the fields of training and capacity building in various domains. (MENA)
