CAIRO, July 6 (MENA) - African Union (AU) representative and Vice-president of the AU High Level panel on Sudan Speciosa Wandira-Kazibwe said Egypt plays a principal and pivotal role in supporting efforts meant to end the war in Sudan.

Egypt attaches significant importance to Sudan, making positive clear-cut moves to help mobilize collective action for establishing peace in the war-torn country, Kazibwe told MENA on the margins of a conference themed: "together to halt the war in Sudan", which kicked off here on Saturday in the presence of Emigration and Foreign Minister Badr Abdel Atti.

Thanking Egypt for hosting the conference, Kazibwe said the gathering offers a good opportunity to keep up collective efforts, share views, and discuss the political track needed to end the ongoing war in Sudan.

The Sudanese people are in dire need of this general dialogue to decide for themselves how they will go forward to find solutions to their crisis, Kazibwe said.

She added that all neighboring countries are working together for Sudan's interest, hosting a large number of Sudanese refugees.

After 'Cairo's conference,' the next milestone will be in Addis Ababa, which will host an AU meeting for Sudan, Kazibwe noted, expressing hopes that all political forces of Sudan would participate in the upcoming meeting in Addis Ababa. (MENA)
