CAIRO, June 18 (MENA) – Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly on Wednesday chaired the first meeting of a crisis committee formed to monitor the fallout from the ongoing military confrontation between Iran and Israel.
The meeting, attended by several ministers, followed the government’s weekly session at the Cabinet’s headquarters in the New Administrative Capital.
Madbouly reiterated Egypt’s firm rejection of any expansion of the regional conflict and called for an immediate end to Israel’s military operations across regional fronts. He warned that continued escalation would have dire consequences for the entire region—and the world.
He also echoed President Abdel Fattah El Sisi’s calls during recent meetings and phone conversations with world leaders for the international community to play a more active role in urging regional actors to show restraint, repeating his assertion that peaceful solutions remain the only viable path to securing long-term regional stability.
Addressing the domestic situation, Madbouly reassured the public that all essential goods remain available in local markets, with strategic reserves sufficient for several months. He said the government had taken swift steps to address the potential impacts of the conflict, particularly regarding fuel supplies and strategic stockpiles.
The newly formed crisis committee, chaired by Madbouly, is tasked with assessing the evolving situation and coordinating Egypt’s preparedness across key sectors.
