CAIRO, June 1 (MENA) - Minister of Foreign Affairs, Emigration and Egyptian Expatriates Badr Abdelatty on Sunday participated in a meeting of the Arab-Islamic Ministerial Committee on Gaza with Jordan's King Abdullah II in Amman.
Abdelatty conveyed the greetings of President Abdel Fattah El Sisi to the Jordanian monarch, highlighting the unified position of Arab and Muslim nations on the constants of the Palestinian cause, notably the total rejection of the displacement of Palestinians from their land or Israel's annexation of the West Bank.
The foreign minister called for mobilizing international efforts aimed at expanding recognition of the Palestinian state, resuming the ceasefire deal and allowing the access of humanitarian aid into Gaza.
Abdelatty also took part in a virtual meeting of the Arab-Islamic Ministerial Committee with Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas, Palestinian Foreign Minister Mohammad Mustafa and Palestinian Vice President Hussein Al-Sheikh.
During this virtual gathering, the foreign minister reviewed Egypt's strenuous endeavors to resume the ceasefire deal and allow the entry of emergency humanitarian aid to Gaza, reiterating Cairo's firm stance on rejecting plots for displacing Palestinians from their homeland and demanding full Israeli withdrawal from all occupied Palestinian territories.
The top Egyptian diplomat stressed the need to implement the Egypt-crafted Arab-Islamic plan for the early recovery and the reconstruction of Gaza, reaffirming Egypt's keenness to support the Palestinian people for getting their legitimate rights, foremost of which is the right to establish an independent Palestinian state along the 4 June 1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital.
Abdelatty noted Egypt pays great attention to an international conference on the peaceful settlement of the Palestinian question and the implementation of the two-state solution, which will be held in New York in June and co-chaired by France and Saudi Arabia.
On his part, the Palestinian leader expounded his viewpoint and assessment of the latest developments in the Palestinian territories, spotting light on the recent reforms taken by the Palestinian leadership to address the challenges of the current phase. (MENA)
