CAIRO, May 14 (MENA) - Minister of Foreign Affairs, Emigration and Egyptian
Expatriates Badr Abdelatty said defending Egyptian interests is a top priority for
diplomatic work overseas.
During a meeting the foreign minister held Wednesday with heads of Egyptian missions abroad - as part of periodic meetings meant to monitor performance of embassies and consulates abroad and assess implementation of Egypt’s foreign policy priorities - Abdelatty reviewed institutional reform plans underway at the ministry, with the aim of improving performance and operational efficiency.
He stressed the key role of Egyptian missions abroad in supporting national economy through attracting foreign investments, enhancing cooperation with the private sector in host countries, boosting trade exchange and launching joint business councils.
The foreign minister highlighted the importance of showcasing investment opportunities across the various sectors in Egypt and working to open new markets to increase access of Egyptian exports to these markets, especially in light of measures adopted by the government
to improve the business environment and support the private sector’s role in contribution to the national economy.
Meantime, Abdelatty accentuated continued importance of caring for Egyptian communities abroad, touching on the ministry’s latest efforts to accelerate digital transformation to streamline consular services for Egyptians overseas.
He also pointed out to the important
role of ambassadors and consuls in holding
regular meetings with Egyptian expatriates to stand on their needs and get them acquainted with government initiatives floated for their support.
The foreign minister highlighted the significance of cultural diplomacy in the work of embassies abroad, underscoring the need to intensify Egyptian participation in cultural events and activities in host countries to advance Egypt’s international stand and showcase its rich and unique cultural heritage.
He also referred to the importance of promoting foreign tourism to Egypt, especially in light of the upcoming opening of the Grand Egyptian Museum (GEM) that
would serve as a major destination for archaeological and cultural tourism in Egypt. (MENA)
