CAIRO, May 11 (MENA) - Minister of Foreign Affairs, Emigration and Expatriates Badr Abdelatty held two phone calls Sunday with Subrahmanyam Jaishankar, the Indian Minister of External Affairs, and Mohammad Ishaq Dar, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Pakistan.
Minister Abdelatty welcomed the announcement made by India and Pakistan on May 10, 2025, regarding a joint ceasefire.
The foreign minister affirmed Egypt’s full support for this important step and the prioritization of dialogue. He praised the wise decision made by both sides, which contributes to de-escalation, promotes calm, and supports security and stability in the South Asian region.
Minister Abdelatty emphasized the importance of adhering to the ceasefire, as it would help build trust between the two countries and fulfill the aspirations of the Indian and Pakistani peoples for peace and development.
For their part, the top Indian and Pakistani diplomats expressed their appreciation for Egypt's stance aimed at promoting calm and supporting security and stability in South Asia.
They also valued the recent communications with Cairo and commended the strong relations between their countries and Egypt. (MENA)
