PORT SAID, Egypt, May 10 (MENA) - Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouli said Saturday that the recent achievements witnessed during his visit to the Suez Canal Economic Zone were the result of daily follow-up by President Abdel Fattah El Sisi, along with the government and all concerned state authorities.
He emphasized that these accomplishments represent the first phase of a comprehensive vision for development.
Following the inauguration of several projects of the Suez Canal Economic Zone, Madbouli expressed his happiness for significant development made in Sinai.
He added that the ongoing development at Port Said West Port will be completed in two years, covering the entire port, which has been operational for nearly 150 years.
The prime minister stressed the importance of maximizing the benefits of the Suez Canal corridor, noting that the goal is not just to collect transit fees from ships. "What we are witnessing today is the realization of ideas and plans that have been in place for over 30 years, but it is the political will and vision of President El Sisi that has turned these ideas into reality," he said.
He highlighted that the development efforts cover several key areas, from North Sinai’s El Arish Port to the Suez Port in the south, as well as the East Port Said project.
Madbouli noted that the state is ensuring the ports meet the country's needs for the next 30 to 40 years, thanks to improvements in the infrastructure, wharf extensions, and development of logistical services.
He pointed out that the state is working on a comprehensive development plan, which includes the construction of new silos, liquid and dry bulk terminals, data centers, and water and electricity networks.
He emphasized that these projects are part of an integrated strategy to enhance the strategic Suez Canal Corridor, which will help foster industries and logistics services along its sides.
The premier expressed his gratitude to the stakeholders involved and voiced confidence that more successful projects and major openings will follow. (MENA)
