CAIRO, April 16 (MENA) - Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty voiced appreciation for Poland's support for the Egyptian files addressed by the EU.
He made the remarks during a meeting on Wednesday with Polish Foreign Minister Radosław Sikorski, Foreign Ministry Spokesman Tamim Khallaf said.
Abdelatty said he is looking forward to Poland continuing to support Egyptian files, especially in light of the economic challenges facing Egypt and the hosting of a large number of refugees.
Within this context, he welcomed the European Parliament's vote backing the second tranche of the European financial package to Egypt at 4 billion euros on April 1.
He voiced appreciation for the development of the Egyptian-Polish relations, highlighting the importance of the Polish foreign minister's visit to Egypt, especially in light of Poland's current presidency of the EU.
Abdelatty voiced hope to further coordination and consultation between the two countries and build on the outcome of the first session of the joint economic committee, which was held in December 2024.
Abdelatty said he is looking forward to promoting economic and trade cooperation and boosting Polish investments in Egypt, commending the rise in Polish tourism in Egypt over the past period.
The two ministers also exchanged views on a number of regional and international issues, topped by the conditions in the Gaza Strip.
Abdelatty reviewed Egypt's stand concerning the developments in Gaza and the importance of resuming the ceasefire deal.
He also tackled the Gaza reconstruction plan, which was endorsed at the Arab and Islamic levels.
He lauded the Polish stand rejecting the forced displacement of the Palestinians.
The two sides also discussed the latest developments in Syria, Sudan, and Libya, as well as navigation safety in the Red Sea and the Ukrainian crisis. (MENA)
