CAIRO, April 11 (MENA) - Egypt places great importance on strengthening cooperation with African nations and advancing continental integration to serve the interests of African peoples, Minister of Foreign Affairs, Emigration and Egyptian Expatriates Badr Abdelatty said on Friday.
In bilateral meetings with his African counterparts on the sidelines of the ongoing Antalya Diplomacy Forum in Turkey, Abdelatty affirmed Egypt’s readiness to provide all forms of technical support and capacity-building in priority sectors.
The meetings included discussions with the foreign minister of Angola, current Chair of the African Union, as well as the foreign ministers of Zambia, the DR Congo, Gambia, Côte d’Ivoire, Burkina Faso, and Rwanda.
Talks focused on ways to boost bilateral relations across various fields, especially economic, trade, and investment cooperation.
The meetings also addressed key African issues, particularly efforts to achieve peace and stability across the continent, and the need to strengthen joint African action to address current challenges, especially those related to sustainable development and combating terrorism.
The African ministers also affirmed their support for Khaled el-Anany’s candidacy as the African Union’s nominee for Director-General of UNESCO, a nomination seen as a reflection of the continent’s aspirations for greater representation in international institutions. (MENA)
